Knights Edge Outlaws, 7-6
|
Nashville right fielder Bob Sacamano had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Sacamano was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, even as Charlotte beat the Outlaws, 7-6. Charlotte starter Luis Villanueva was credited with the win after throwing 88 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Ernesto García collected his 1st save.
Jesús Pérez, who is a two-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner, chipped in for Charlotte with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
Knights manager Abel Gonzales wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
The triumph makes Charlotte 26-52.
