Marauders Fall Short, 3-2, at China Grove
|
China Grove rode a good effort from starter Léo Monteil to beat the Manchester Marauders at Thunderdome. The final score was 3-2. Monteil, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up no walks. Jake Kohles earned the save for China Grove, his 6th.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Chris Tollett was at the plate when China Grove scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Samurai to go in front, 3-2.
"Léo is tough when he's hitting his spots," said China Grove manager Bobby Hillier.
The Samurai raised their record to 25-41.
