Generals Solve Liberty, 5-3
|
Led by Anthony Werstein, the Washington Generals defeated the Philadelphia Liberty, 5-3. Werstein went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Generals. Reliever Steve Knauer picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Quoc-Tai Sa, who is tied for 10th in the HL with a 1.20 WHIP, took the loss. António Durán earned the save for Washington, his 6th.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the sixth, Werstein had a key at-bat for Washington. With a runner on 3rd, Werstein hit a run-scoring single off Quoc-Tai Sa, making the score 4-3, Generals.
Werstein called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
