The Milwaukee Milkmen took Mahoning Valley pitcher Jorge Gonzáles's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Canal Park. The final score had Milwaukee getting past the Scrappers, 3-2. Gonzáles went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 3. The win was credited to Bingo Long in relief. His record improves to 2-3. José Martínez took the loss. The win has Milwaukee at 22-33.
Milwaukee used the timely hitting of Steve Lanese to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Milkmen on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
