Minneapolis Beats Memphis, 5-4
|
Minneapolis picked up a win at Gateway Field, bumping off the Memphis Blues, 5-4. Pitcher Kevin Lijewski was a major reason the Millers emerged victorious. Lijewski, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. With the win, the Millers have a record of 36-19.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Daniel Peña? The Minneapolis shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Millers on top, 5-3. For the game, Peña had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Winning is contagious," said Peña. "We're looking forward to the next game."
