Steffen Selected PIL's #1 Player Monday, October 13th , 2059 Blake Steffen took BLB Rookie League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 21. For his spectacular campaign, the Chandlers Firebirds star has been named the 2059 Pilsner Outstanding Hitter Award recipient. "To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the right fielder. On the season he compiled a .327 batting average to go with a .466 on-base percentage. The native of Poquoson, Virginia also added 23 doubles, 3 triples, 33 home runs, 87 RBIs and 80 runs scored. He received 20 first place votes out of a possible 24. Kyle Motyka of the Niagara Falls Rapids finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Brice Younce of the Chesapeake Mallards finished third with 1 first place vote.
