Johnson Parks 3 for Albany Wednesday, July 2nd , 2059 Albany Chiefs first baseman Luke Johnson slugged three home runs against the Chesapeake Mallards at The Pond, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Mallards spoiled his day by defeating the Chiefs, 11-8. "The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game Luke had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Albany manager Ron Dennehy. "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing Luke, he would have preferred a win." For the game, Johnson was 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Johnson said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too." Luke Johnson struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Joshua Gethii in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Elwin Magomu in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Namon Gorlenko in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Presently Johnson is batting .226 and has collected 7 home runs, 18 RBIs, .356 OBP and scored 23 runs. |
