Sweet 16 Goes the Distance, Alac C Pope HS Prevails
Wednesday, April 19th , 2062
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at General Park as the Sweet 16 stretched to the final game.
It was the Alac C Pope HS Generals feeling the thrill of victory, with a 7-1 win over the Seton Hall Prep HS Pirates, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Quarterfinals.
"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Seton Hall Prep HS manager Edgar Alonzo. "Congratulations to Alac C Pope HS, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."
Instrumental in the 2-1 series win was second baseman Dalton Burton, who was named MVP. He hit .500 with a .538 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 5 runs.
"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.
The Quarterfinals matchups and schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes.
