Monarch Lions Ayres Smacks 5 Hits Wednesday, March 5th , 2059 Mater Dei HS center fielder Ray Ayres had a big day at The Zoo today against the Riverrdale Baptist HS Crusaders. The 16-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led the Monarch Lions to a 16-6 triumph over Riverrdale Baptist HS. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Ayres said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Ray Ayres doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th and doubled in the 7th. Thus far this year Ayres has hit .354 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs.
