Owens Runs Hit String to 20 Straight Games Sunday, March 2nd , 2059 Erick Owens of the Sulphur HS Golden Tornados extended his hitting streak to 20 straight games with 2 hits in today's 7-3 triumph over the Carroll HS Dragons at Sulphur Field. "Erick has been making it easy for me to pencil his name in the lineup every day," Golden Tornados manager Nathaniel Buell joked after the game. Erick Owens hit a solo-shot off Clifford Jeffries in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and singled in the 7th. This season Owens has banged out 21 hits in 48 at-bats for a .438 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .509 pace and his totals also include 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored. |
