After a 5-hit effort to lead Poly Prep Country Day School's 19-4 victory over the Harvard-Westlake Wild Cats, second baseman Evan Ochs told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the High School-level is really something special."

The 17-year-old player earned his accolades today at Devil Park with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Wild Cats.

"His swing is getting there," said Blue Devils skipper Edwin Briggs, who spoke glowingly of Ochs after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Evan did that to perfection today."

Evan Ochs singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, singled in the 5th, tripled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Thus far this season Ochs has hit .344 with 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 14 times.
