Russell Goes Downtown 3 Times Against Polar Bears
Tuesday, March 9th , 2060
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.

It happened at The Eagles Nest today, as Shawn Russell of the Stoneman Douglas HS Eagles unloaded three times against the Jackson HS Polar Bears but was still bumped off 12-11 by the Polar Bears.

"We were lucky to win today," said Jackson HS skipper Tim Underwood. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."

For the game, the Stoneman Douglas HS right fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 7.

Russell spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.

"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

Shawn Russell hit a two-run home run off Asa Baldwin in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Asa Baldwin in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jarod King in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

Looking at his present stats, Russell has compiled a .470 batting average in 16 games with a .545 on-base percentage, while hitting 8 home runs and driving in 23 runs.
