Captains Bolton Raps 3 Homers Thursday, March 4th , 2060 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Scott Bolton swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Knight Park, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Notre Dame HS Knights were better. The Lake Travis Captains couldn't capitalize on the big game from Bolton and dropped the contest 19-5. The mood in the Captains clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Knights to spoil the day for Bolton. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Lake Travis manager Jaxon Mann said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Bolton collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Lake Travis left fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Scott Bolton flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Preston Cookson in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Preston Cookson in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Wilbur Vassil in the 8th. Thus far this year Bolton is hitting .315 with 7 home runs, 16 RBIs and 8 runs scored. |
