Van Meter and Harp Brawl, League Suspends Them Friday, May 1st , 2065 Yesterday at Bluebirds Ballpark Justin Van Meter and Soren Harp got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Lowell Patriots and Los Cayos Jellyfish. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Van Meter will have to sit out 3 while Harp would be given a 7-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Van Meter on the season is batting .196 with 1 home run. His totals include 4 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has played in 16 games. |
