Playoffs Won't Happen for Blackbirds Tuesday, September 2nd , 2059 It's the better-luck-next-time point of the season for the Orlando Blackbirds. The club was officially eliminated from playoff contention today, and will turn their attention to next year's campaign. "You know, the average player doesn't get that many seasons, so every time you're eliminated, it hurts," said Blackbirds reliever Tommy Humes. The Blackbirds have missed the playoffs 71 times in their 82 years as a Bush League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 2nd in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2057. In the last 10 seasons, the Blackbirds have made the playoffs 5 times. |
