Barre Halts Villa's Hitting Steak Sunday, August 14th, 2039 Vicksburg shortstop Kevon Villa went 0-for-3 today in Vicksburg's 5-3 triumph over the Barre Grays, snapping his 22-game hitting streak. Villa spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later." "I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though." When Villa made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Grays manager Shaun Hawthorne said of Villa's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." This year Villa is batting .330 with 1 home run and 15 RBIs. In 35 games he has scored 7 times. |
