Herons Star Wins Outstanding Pitcher Award

Carter Byars of the Fort Wayne Herons will be adding a new centerpiece to his mantel after being tabbed for the Futures Federation Outstanding Pitcher Award today.

The 32-year-old hurler started 25 games this season, tallying a 15-6 record. In 165.2 innings, Byars gave up 142 hits, struck out 107, walked 37 and held opponents to a .238 average as he posted a fine 2.61 ERA.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Grant Randolph of the Fort Wayne Herons finished second in voting, while Mason Meyers of the Allentown A's finished third.
