No Hits for Turner, Streak Ends at 26 Saturday, July 26th , 2059 Cody Turner saw his 26-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Flushing Chiefs win over Trenton at Trenton Grounds. The 29-year-old center fielder was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Trenton Liberty, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 5-2. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Turner told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 26 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." In 76 games Turner is hitting .348 this season with 118 hits, 5 home runs, 27 RBIs, 18 walks, .387 OBP and has scored 60 runs. |
