Whitham Shines, Shuts Out New Orleans, 1-0 Wednesday, June 20th, 2046 The New Orleans Voodoo had no answer today for Toronto Canadians pitcher Westley Whitham. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 1-0. New Orleans managed only 6 hits off Whitham, who had 6 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Whitham got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Canadians fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible." Whitham has made 14 starts, tossed 95 innings, struck out 72 batters and walked 20. His record is 3-10 with a 5.78 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .289 batting average.
