California Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1
|
The California Kodiaks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Seattle Pilots, winning, 5-1, at In-N-Out Field. Kodiaks right-hander Tony Whitley threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Kodiaks to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Whitley, the California right-hander, went 6 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits. He collected 8 strikeouts.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Whitley, "and then get after it again."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at In-N-Out Field in San Jose.
