Kodiaks Lose Late, 6-3
|
The Philadelphia Freedom defeated the California Kodiaks, 6-3, in Import League action at In-N-Out Field. Philadelphia pitcher Liam Polyak had a standout performance. Philadelphia reliever Rich Thomas was credited with the win, to go to 4-2. Kel Ingle took the loss for California. The win puts Philadelphia at 30-47.
The outcome might have been different for Philadelphia, had it not been for Abraham Koziarz, the former first round draft pick . Koziarz stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Philadelphia up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Polyak. "Successful pitchers do it."
