Freedom Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Philadelphia Freedom withstood an impressive performance by California third baseman Rory Elia Jr. to defeat the Kodiaks, 4-3, at In-N-Out Field. Elia Jr. was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Scott Lewis picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Camron Borowski, who is tied for 8th in the IL in holds with 6, was tagged with the loss. Nic McClelland notched his 18th save in 18 chances.
Cooper Love had a direct impact on the outcome. Love contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Philadelphia up, 1-0.
"I was a little disappointed," said California manager Kevin Alston. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The Freedom now own a record of 34-42.
