Kodiaks Take Down Cyclones, 2-1
|
Alex Landrum pitched well, but his team, the New York Cyclones, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the California Kodiaks at In-N-Out Field. Peyton Gerber, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 18th save. The second-place Kodiaks have won 6 consecutive games.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Stan Sikes came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing New York pitcher Alex Landrum, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting California on top, 2-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said New York manager Dave Taylor.
