Wildcats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Millers, 2-1
|
Wilmington Wildcats starter Ron Thomas turned in a sterling performance against the Pittsburgh Millers, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Tyler Wolfe earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Greg Padgett closed it out for his 16th save.
Wilmington used the timely hitting of Julian Crews to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wildcats on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Thomas told the Wilmington Daily.
With the win, the Wildcats have a record of 32-38.
