Blues Win Nail-Biter
The Windy City Blues defeated the Carolina Tobs in 14 innings, 8-7, in part because of center fielder Jalon Doty. Doty went 3 for 6 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 for the Blues. Peyton Gerber came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. The loss makes Carolina 27-41.

The Tobs had been locked in a 7-7 tie with the Blues going into the top of the 14th inning. That changed quickly when the four-time All-Star Brad Castro came to the plate. Castro hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch fastball from Carolina hurler Alec Shanahan. It was Castro's 22nd double of the year.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Jamie Stewart.
