Phoenix picked up a win at The Birdnest, bumping off the Washington Bats, 4-3. Pitcher Holden Ritchey was a major reason the Roadrunners emerged victorious. Ritchey, now 7-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Trent Rogers, who finished 2nd in the IL in saves with 37 last year, earned the save for Phoenix.
Spencer Stephens was 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs for Phoenix. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Miles Licon. It was his 69th hit of the season.
