Patriots Saddle Millers with 3-2 Loss
The Pawtucket Patriots defeated the Pittsburgh Millers, 3-2, in Domestic League action at Pawtucket Park. Pawtucket pitcher Zane Thorpe had a standout performance. Thorpe, now 4-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. J.D. de Leon collected his 6th save.

Keith Friday was 1-3 for Pawtucket. The 19-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bert Franklin. It was his 27th RBI of the season.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Thorpe told the Pawtucket Citizen. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."

With the win over Pittsburgh, the Patriots improved to 29-39.
