Bats Earn 2-1 Win Against Freedom
|
The Washington Bats picked up a win at Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower Field, knocking off the Philadelphia Freedom, 2-1. On the mound for Washington was left-hander Reid Rothstein, who played a pivotal role in the win. Washington reliever Darius Huschke picked up the win to move to 4-3. Erick Greenway suffered the loss. The win gives Washington a season record of 35-32.
Washington needed the clutch hitting of Hayden Jones to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bats on top, 2-1. For the game, Jones had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We were in it," said Philadelphia manager Hector Ruiz. "We just didn't score enough runs."
