Bats Beat Muckdogs, 4-2
|
Washington pitcher J.P. Lovins did his part in helping his team defeat the Batavia Muckdogs, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Lovins, now 5-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Tommy Pitz recorded the save, his 4th.
Rayshaun Stuart had a big 3-run home run for the Bats in the bottom of the third inning. With Washington leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a knuckle curve from 27-year old left-handed pitcher Kristian Segerson and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bats ahead, 4-0.
Stuart attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
Washington is now 30-38, Batavia 31-35.
