Africa Pitching Ravaged by Cahue
|
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Dorsey Cahue got his name recorded today, but the Africa picked up the win at Africa Fields, topping the West Indies, 7-4.
"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Alex Contreras. "We were lucky to come out ahead."
Cahue, who finished 2nd in the DL in triples with 14 in 2057, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.
"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the third baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."
Dorsey Cahue singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Cahue is hitting .356 this year with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 21 hits in 59 at-bats, 4 walks and a .397 on-base percentage. Cahue has played in 14 games.
