Guides Squelch Whalers Offense in Shutout Win
In a low-scoring contest between the Maine Guides and the Hartford Whalers, Preston Newpher was the X factor. The Maine right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. With the win, Maine upped its record to 28-27.

Maine took a 3-0 lead on Deshaun Bearden's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Bearden hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Hartford pitcher Walker Short visibly frustrated.

"Preston is still learning," said Guides manager Kyle Hall. "The sky's the limit for him."
