5-1 Triumph Takes Wilmington to 33-18
|
The first-place Wilmington Wildcats took on the Pawtucket Patriots in front of a spirited crowd.
The Pawtucket Patriots went down to defeat to Zack Fleming and his Wilmington teammates. The final score was 5-1 in favor of the Wildcats. Fleming, now 6-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.
Early in the game, first baseman Ozzie Huang had a 2-run home run for Wilmington. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Wildcats on top, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Wilmington Herald, Huang said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The first-place Wildcats have won 4 straight.
