Overton Helps Voodoo Defeat Canadians, 7-2
|
The New Orleans Voodoo beat the Toronto Canadians, 7-2, at Henry Byrd Field. The win was due in part to center fielder Dawson Overton, who slugged 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Andy Blake earned the win to go to 3-3. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work. The Voodoo now own a record of 81-67.
In the first inning, Overton had a 3-run home run for New Orleans. It was his 22nd home run of the season and put the Voodoo on top, 4-0.
Overton attributed the win to his team's "tenacity."
