Bats Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
|
Isaac Pack led Washington to a win over Batavia. The final score was 5-4. The designated hitter had a huge performance. He whacked 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Matt Benjaminson got credit for the win, improving to 14-7. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 8 innings. Kaleb Morris sewed up the save, his 39th.
Washington used the timely hitting of Alec Echard to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bats on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Pack said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
The first-place Bats have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
