The Toronto Canadians had to overcome a big game from New Orleans center fielder Lon Leseberg to leave Henry Byrd Field with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Leseberg went 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Canadians improved to 84-63.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Cory Petit came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing New Orleans pitcher Clinton Yates, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 5-4.

"Winning is contagious," said Petit. "We're looking forward to the next game."
