California Kodiaks starter Micheal Powers pitched well against the Washington Bats at The Capitol, leading his team to a win, 5-2. The Kodiaks, at 73-71, sit in third place in the Import League Bock Division.

California won the game in part because of Rory Elia Jr.. The third baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Kodiaks ahead, 4-0. For the game, Elia Jr. had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Powers.
