Extra-Inning Win by Whalers Over Drillers

The Hartford Whalers beat the Dallas Drillers, 4-3, in 10 innings at The Driller Dugout. Hartford left fielder Drew Pines had an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Dion Bostock wrapped it up, recording his 23rd save. The win makes Hartford 63-81.
Pines had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 changeup from James Forbes, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Whalers a 4-3 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Pines.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Pines. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
