Guides Win, 4-3, in Extra Frames
|
The Maine Guides outlasted the Toronto Canadians in an extra-inning thriller.
The Maine Guides had to overcome a fine effort from Toronto pitcher Bruno Sheline to win, 4-3, in 10 innings at Dylan Owens Stadium. Sheline went 8.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Al Williams, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Mitch Colwell earned save number 8 this season.
Maine used the timely hitting of Marcus Valdez to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Guides on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Valdez.
Maine, at 18-27, holds down 5th place in the Domestic League Ale Division.
