Rum Runners Drop Voodoo, 5-4

Henry Byrd Field was the site of a competitive game between the New Orleans Voodoo and Santo Domingo Rum Runners.
New Orleans catcher Peyton Ames had a good game, even if his team did not. The Voodoo dropped a 5-4 decision to Santo Domingo at Henry Byrd Field. Ames went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Dave Scott got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 6.1 innings. Austin Virnig was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 27 save opportunities.
Santo Domingo used a well-timed hit by Braeden Shute to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rum Runners ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Santo Domingo manager Jamal M.
The last-place Rum Runners have won 5 straight.
