Pawtucket Patriots starter Zane Thorpe was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Carolina Tobs, 5-3. Thorpe got the win, improving to 8-11. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. Thorpe allowed 3 runs. Greg Batton recorded the save for Pawtucket, his 3rd of the season.
Keith Friday, who is tied for 4th in the DL in doubles with 42, helped out the Pawtucket cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the second baseman was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Friday told a Pawtucket Citizen reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
The Patriots improved to 60-79.
