The Hartford Whalers racked up a win at Samuel Stone Memorial Field, bumping off the Batavia Muckdogs, 5-4. Jamel Thomas, who started for Hartford, pitched effectively for his team. Jamal Brown closed the door for Hartford, picking up his 32nd save of the year. Hartford, at 64-73, holds down 4th place in the Domestic League Ale Division.

Houston Yap hit a run-scoring double off Heath Day in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Whalers in front, 4-3. In addition to the double, Yap had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Yap. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
