In the 6-5 Wilmington win over California, the impact of Dorsey Cahue was substantial. Cahue, who is tied for 3rd in the DL in triples with 10, was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Gerold Lentz earned his 10th save in 11 chances. Wilmington is now 85-53, while California is 90-48.
Cahue contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Wilmington in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Cahue took a slider from Chase Lowe and stroked the home run to left. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Wildcats to leap in front, 6-4.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Cahue told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
