Freedom Topple Whalers, 4-1
|
The Philadelphia Freedom stymied the Hartford Whalers, 4-1, at Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower Field. Marlon Johnson had a good day at the plate. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Philadelphia. Erick Greenway recorded the save for Philadelphia, his 3rd of the season. The Freedom go to 49-87 with the win.
Johnson had a key at-bat for Philadelphia early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and gave Philadelphia an early 2-0 lead.
Johnson told a Philadelphia Gazette reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
