Exports Capture Close Win
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Montreal Exports and Hartford Whalers.
Hartford got a terrific performance from pitcher Walker Short, but it wasn't enough to beat the Montreal Exports. Montreal won the Samuel Stone Memorial Field contest, 2-1. Short threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Montreal pitcher Stedman Ortiz got the win. He's now 2-1. Dion Bostock was tagged with the loss.
Sawyer Rayburn had a direct impact on the outcome. Rayburn contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Montreal up, 2-1.
"It was a good effort all around," said Rayburn.
Their 20-23 record puts the Exports last in the Domestic League Lager Division.
