Rockville's Brown Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
|
A jubilant Kelly Brown joined the postgame press conference at Victory Ballpark today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Little Rock Travelers pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Rockville Redhawks center fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Redhawks to a 15-1 win.
"He made it look easy," said Rob Foster, manager of the Travelers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Kelly Brown doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Brown is currently batting .402 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 47 hits in 117 at-bats.
