Jones Socks It to Freedom, Cracks 5 Hits
|
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Charlie Jones is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Philadelphia Freedom at Snapper Park today. The monster effort from the 24-year-old right fielder helped the Syracuse Snappers take the win, 10-3.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Freedom manager Hector Ruiz. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Charlie Jones tripled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
In his stats this season, Jones has posted a batting average of .406 with 65 hits in 160 at-bats, 6 home runs and 21 RBIs. He has also scored 33 runs, walked 11 times and compiled a .448 OBP.
