New Orleans Voodoo starter Joel Thompson turned in a top-notch performance against the Hartford Whalers at Henry Byrd Field. The result was a win for the Voodoo, 5-1. The defeat makes the Whalers 12-18.

Jamari Torosian had a big 2-run home run for the Voodoo in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New Orleans leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from former first round draft pick Joel Freeman and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Voodoo on top, 3-0.

"It was just a matter of executing," said New Orleans manager Grant Driscoll.
