Bats Victorious at Philadelphia, 4-1
|
Washington starter Sherwin Kendrick put a stranglehold on the Philadelphia offense. The left-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Bats to a 4-1 win. Kendrick yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-1. The Freedom drop to 15-15 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2065 season.
Washington used a well-timed hit by Ty Dec to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bats ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Bats manager Pat Fiume, "I like our chances."
