Wildcats Stumble, Lose to Patriots
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Pawtucket Patriots and Wilmington Wildcats.

The Pawtucket Patriots knocked off the Wilmington Wildcats, 8-2, in Domestic League action at Pawtucket Park. Pawtucket pitcher and Overland, Missouri, native Brendin Basham had an outstanding performance. Basham, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Sheldon Meadows closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

Kaniel Martinez had a big 2-run double for the Patriots in the bottom of the third inning. With Pawtucket leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Zack Fleming, who led the DL in ERA with 3.28 last year, and swatted a double to right. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Patriots ahead, 3-0.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Basham told the Pawtucket Daily News.

Losses have been few and far between for the Wildcats so far this season. Their record drops to 18-8.
