Clowns Roll Rum Runners, 7-3
|
With right fielder Tom Holderness leading the charge, the Indianapolis Clowns defeated the Santo Domingo Rum Runners, 7-3, at The Big Top. Holderness, who finished 3rd in the DL in OPS with .893 in 2058, was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2. Picking up the win was Chad Flanigan. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 5 and walked 1. Payton Cooke recorded the save for Indianapolis, his 3rd of the season.
The Clowns got a big at-bat from first baseman Sean Hayward. For the game, Hayward was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Indianapolis a 6-3 lead.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Holderness.
With the win, Indianapolis goes to 14-10.
